"Wooden Tobacco Box And Grater In The Shape Of A Lion. 17th Century."
Lion carved in wood, probably boxwood, eyes inlaid in bronze, the interior is hollowed out to contain the grated tobacco. The iron grater is missing. Very beautiful sculpture, interesting subject and superb patina. The power that emerges from the lion, its still medieval appearance makes us think of a sculpture prior to the 18th century. It is a very beautiful rare object that deserves to appear in the most beautiful collections. Probably northern Europe 17th century. 98x77mm.
