Object description :

"19th Century Snowy Landscape Clock Painting"
Clock painting dating from the very beginning of the 19th century, rare composition of a snowy landscape. All the characteristics of clock paintings are present: the bell tower integrating the clock face, the bridge spanning a stream, the village in the background and an animation of characters having braved the snow! The heavy sky is remarkably executed as is the vegetation covered in its snowy coat. The clock mechanism is very interesting because it is a pendulum movement on silk thread from the 1800/1820 period with chimes. Presented in its original box with the period gilded palmette frame. Bears the label of the specialist manufacturer Ferdinand Wurtel installed in the passage Vivienne in Paris. Very good general condition, the canvas without perforation does not present any restoration! Frame dimensions: 88/74cm Canvas dimensions: 72/58cm
