"Stained Glass Model For Louis Balmet (1879-1963), Master Glassmaker From Grenoble."
Model representing the Holy Family treated in an original way by the presence in the foreground of children recalling the "let the children come to me" In the lower register four figures of holy priests and bishops. The designer is probably Georges Louis Claude, author of the decoration of the Heliopolis Palace Hotel (current Egyptian presidential palace) built by the architect Alexandre Marcel (1860-1928) at the request of Baron Empain and inaugurated in 1910. He also designed the oriental decor of the Japanese tower and the Chinese restaurant built at the request of King Leopold II in Laeken. In the aftermath of the Great War, he provided models to the Sévres factory and devoted himself to the design of civil and religious models for the master glassmakers Louis Balmet, Francis Chogot and Jacques Grüber.
