"Necklace In Double Pearls In Opalescent Glass With Amber Yellow Reflections, Early 20th Century "
This necklace from the first half of the 20th century is composed of a set of double beads in opalescent glass of the Sabino or Lalique type. For double beads, I hear the need for an explanation! These are two beads assembled while still melted to form a single piece, which is why the necklace seems to be a little twisted which gives it this original style. It is a very beautiful quality of glass which reacts a lot to light and gives significant yellow-amber reflections when exposed to the sun. It is probably a composition based on arsenic and other oxides now prohibited in the manufacture of glass because of the harmful fumes during fusion.
