"Two Louis XVI Cabriolet Armchairs, One Stamped Jullienne, Circa 1775 - 1780"
Set of two Louis XVI period cabriolet armchairs in molded, carved and lacquered / whitewashed wood in Gustavian gray tones. 18th century period around 1775. One of the seats bears the D. JULLIENNE stamp under the front crosspiece. Denis Jullienne, received as a master in 1775 in Paris, owned a workshop located rue de Charenton and produced orders for the Marquis de Girardin. Our armchairs have a trapezoidal backrest worked in a "basket handle" on their upper part. The legs of our seats are tapered and fluted, the connecting dice are decorated with flowers. There is a small difference in sculpture between the two cabriolets at the level of the armrest supports (see photo 9) The upholstery is in good condition, the seat is comfortable. Both are covered with the same satin fabric with floral decoration showing wear and small scattered tears (see photo 10)
