Elegant pair of 19th century gilt bronze andirons, Louis XV style, Napoleon III period in original gilt bronze with fine chiseling and decoration of an elegant couple in matt bronze sitting on a typically Louis XV foliage decoration. This model is taken in the 19th century from the original model kept at the Château de Versailles from the 18th century. The andirons are signed BOUHON FRÈRES, a renowned French company in the 19th century, specializing in the manufacture of bronze fireplaces. Initially known as Maison Clavier, then Bouhon et Cie until 1898, it later became Bouhon Frères. The brothers Thomas and Joseph Bouhon ran this company, located in the Marais district of Paris. They were recognized for the exceptional quality of the krurs produced, including the andirons. Their expertise earned them the right to participate in universal exhibitions, notably those of 1878 and 1900 in Paris where they were awarded gold medals.
