Mommaerts Geo (1923-2006)
Geo Mommaerts is a Belgian painter and draftsman. Trained at the Brussels Academy (1939 - 1946). Creation of urban landscapes, seascapes, nudes, interiors. Light and bright tones. His works representing old bourgeois houses in Brussels, Paris or Amsterdam breathe the nostalgia and melancholy of a past. First Young Art Prize in Brussels in 1946, Godecharle Prize in 1947, Belgian Painters of the Sea Prize in 1952, Triennial Painting Prize of the Municipality of Ixelles in 1967, Lebon Prize in Auderghem in 1973, Baron Steen Prize in 1980.
