Pewter Wine Pitcher - Lisieux, 18th Century

A pewter shouldered pitcher with a flared foot, a straight oblique cup and a tasseled thumb lid. It has a low-mounted scroll handle often seen on pitchers from this centre.
Control mark: Crowned C / (LISI)EVX / 1749.
Trace of the mark of Nicolas PREAUX received master in 1744.
Height: 20.7 cm
LISIEUX (Lower Normandy), Mid-18th century

The immediately subsequent known control is that of 1751 and allows us to very plausibly date this pitcher between 1749 and 1751.
