The central motif of the drawing is the effigy of a knight in the style of a Roman senator, in the scabbard of a knight with a Roman helmet. It should be noted that around 1880 the Toledo Factory, very aware of the centuries-old tradition of Spanish swords and weapons manufactured in this city, recovered the models and shapes of the Spanish daggers and swords of the Spanish Golden Age. On the blade there are monsters similar to dragons, wolves and fauns, as well as a bird in its nest.
This dagger has the shape and decorations that pay homage to the Renaissance daggers of the 16th and 17th centuries.
This type of luxury daggers and daggers from the Toledo Factory were made for the private collections of nobles and powerful figures of the late 19th century, and many of these weapons were also given to ambassadors and personalities from foreign courts who visited Spain at the end of the 19th century.
The gold filling is fully preserved. Dated circa 1880, electricity was used with a Volta battery to stamp the gold inside the relief of the drawing.
Preserved dagger, complete decoration, without defects. High collection piece.
