"Lyonnaise Games Table, 18th Century. "
This beautiful and elegant games table is made of solid walnut, with a square top and on all sides, it was intended to accommodate four players, each crosspiece of the belt is carved in the center with a shell bordered on either side by a small volute and topped with a drawer. The curved uprights are decorated in their upper part with a fleuron topped with a shell and in the lower part with a crowbar carved with an acanthus leaf. The top covered with brown leather is bordered with a flat rod forming a bowl, each corner is decorated with a pull tab which allows a torch to be placed to light the game. This piece of furniture intended for the aristocracy and the upper middle class is characteristic of the production of Lyon cabinetmakers in the first half of the 18th century. In excellent condition, it has nevertheless undergone a few very small repairs here and there in the past and the leather is later. Period first half of the 18th century.
