Antique cane in solid silver and snakewood – Art Nouveau

Elegant cane from the Art Nouveau period, decorated with a superb solid silver pommel, hallmarked Minerva, representing a finely chiseled praying mantis.
A symbol of good fortune and divine protection in many cultures, this emblematic insect gives this cane a unique artistic and symbolic dimension.
The pommel bears the initials, name and address of the owner engraved: "AD" DUCROS, 8 Rue Hôtel des Postes, NICE. The goldsmith, although hallmarked, remains illegible.

The shaft, made of snakewood, seduces with its quality and natural elegance, and ends with a horn ferrule.

The whole is in very good general condition, with slight marks of use consistent with its age.
