"Adolphe Péré (1873-1926) The Alley 1894, Cognac. Charente School, Charente, Bordeaux, Boucart"
Very rare and superb oil on canvas by Adolphe Péré representing an alley in the undergrowth in 1894, signed and dated lower right + inscriptions on the back on an old label including 'Landscape road in the forest A.Péré 1894, impressionist period Cognac" Size of the canvas alone 46x33cm and 59x46cm including frame. This is therefore a superb impressionist composition by this excellent and rare Cognac painter who here paints an alley near a wood near Cognac; he painted this canvas at the age of 21 during his so-called impressionist period. Indeed he uses a touch of small commas, skillfully plays with light thanks to a very subtle palette with only 3/4 colors used, a range of greens, grays, blues and white. The works of this Charente artist are extremely rare on the market, despite the fact that he lived from his art. Péré had so he perfectly retained the lessons of the Impressionists that he would apply most of the time to paint landscapes of his region in the surroundings of Cognac, but he would also set up his easel on the Atlantic coast (Royan, La Rochelle, Rochefort...) as well as near Bordeaux. A painting exhibited in 1896 at the Salon du Champ de Mars in Paris had particularly caught the attention of critics and amateurs. He would also exhibit regularly at the Salon des Amis des Arts in Cognac, where today the museum of the same city preserves several works by this artist. He is finally listed in the excellent work of Gérard Aubisse on the painters of Charente, Poitou and Vendée (see last photo) This canvas is in good original condition, I would just like to point out a few tiny little repairs on the very bottom of the canvas. Delivered in a modern gilded frame. Work guaranteed authentic
