Foundry stamp, marked with a letter intaglio on the uprights.

Very beautiful nuanced patina, perfect state of conservation.

Paul Silvestre was born in Toulouse, where his father was a carpenter. Admitted in 1905 to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the Antonin Mercié and Antonin Carles workshops. Grand Prix de Rome in 1912, he exhibited regularly from 1921 at the Salon des artistes français, where he won a gold medal in 1930. Named knight of the Legion of Honor in 1906.
