Oil on panel signed Mério Améglio* representing a lively and colorful view of the Place du Tertre in Montmartre in Paris, with the Sacré Coeur basilica in the background, from the 20th century. This painting is in good condition as is its frame. It is signed lower right. Framer's label in Montmartre on the back. Please note: slight wear of time on the frame, see photos. * Merio Ameglio (1897-1970) is an Italian painter, engraver, lithographer and illustrator. He is a painter from Montmartre who is part of the School of Paris. He is mainly known for his landscapes, his scenes of urban life and his seascapes. In Paris, he settled in Montmartre and built a reputation by painting street scenes and urban landscapes. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1938. One of his paintings, Caen Cathedral, received an honorable mention. After the war, he continued to live in Montmartre and exhibited regularly in Parisian galleries and those in the south of France (Cannes, Nice, Menton). In October 1969, the Cambacérès gallery (Paris) organized a retrospective of his work. (see Les Atamanes website). Artist highly rated on Artprice.
