Louis XIV period "Doll's Head" clock in so-called "Boulle first part" marquetry decorated on all sides with very rich copper and pewter motifs finely engraved on a red-tinted tortoiseshell background. Boulle marquetry with very rich decorations called "à la Bérain" representing foliage scrolls, fleurons, scrolling friezes and lambrequins. Circular brass dial engraved with dog-head scrolls, decorated in the upper part with a grotesque mask. In the lower part a cartouche with a polished background bearing the signature of Baltazar Martinot in Paris. The dial surround is encircled by an engraved pewter disc in which the hours are inscribed in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. The blued steel hands are openworked with small fleurs-de-lys. Gilded and chiseled bronze pediment, decorated with a terrestrial globe resting on a lambrequin canopy surrounded by falling laurel leaves. Wire movement in very good working order, with its pear-shaped balance. Original winding key.
