"Alex Lizal : "landes Landscapes""
Alex Lizal (1878-1915): "Landes landscapes", pair of watercolors on pen strokes 9 X 14 cm painted on the back of blank postcards, presented by a "museum" montage in pretty sycamore frames 30 X 34 cm. Lizal, very attached to his Landes where he spent most of his life, had as a student another emblematic painter of the Landes: Jean-Roger Sourgen. A champion of the beauty of everyday life, he never stopped embodying it on canvas, multiplying studies until giving them the grandeur of the History paintings of his peers. Our delightful watercolors, of a technique similar to those presented in the book by Jean-Roger Soubiran, present us landscapes with characteristic houses, of course punctuated by pine trees...
