This snuffbox, in solid silver, is decorated on its lid with a scene of pipe smokers seated at a table in an inn or a café, treated as a classical genre scene with many details (characters, animals, background decoration), all in relief for this work called repoussé. We notice on the edges the British hallmarks (Lion, leopard's head, date letter) indicating a work in 925 thousandth, from 1919 by the goldsmith's mark AP over FP: Pairpoint Bros, Alfred James, Francis William, Arthur Walter (actis from 1909 to 1919). the gilded or vermeil interior shows some wear, as does the exterior some scratches... weight 135g37
