Luigi Michel Michaeli (19th-20th) The Ferry-boat In The Old Port Of Marseille

The Old Port of Marseille in the 1930s with its merchant ships, its fishing boats (the famous pointus) and especially the emblematic Ferry-Boat, immortalized by Marcel Pagnol and dear to all Marseillais.
The work is made in oil on canvas by the Provençal artist of Italian origin Luigi Michel Michaeli, it is offered in a beautiful gilded, sculpted frame which measures 73 cm by 87 cm, and 50 cm by 65 cm for the canvas alone.
In good condition, only a small old restoration, visible on the back but totally invisible on the painting side.
Signed lower right, it represents two characters on the quay, one fishing and the other observing him, in the foreground fishing boats pulled ashore, in the background the Ferry-boat making its crossing, in the third background a schooner and in the background, on the other bank, a steamship.
A beautiful testimony to life around the Old Port at the beginning of the 20th century.
