"Baccarat: Large Crystal Vase, Rare Cut Model Engraved With Chrysanthemums - 30.1cm"
Rare large Baccarat crystal vase with Venetian ribs and chrysanthemum motifs, Art Nouveau period circa 1900. This is a Japanese-style work for Escalier de Cristal; a very beautiful model, belonging to the top of the range of crystalware, with a cut motif, treated with acid to give a matte effect and accentuate the contrast and the relief effect, and finally engraved. A work of remarkable finesse, of a high technical level for an irreproachable result: a beautiful collector's item. A piece from the 1900s, our vase does not bear the signature of the crystalworks, but it has kept its paper label under the base. The shape of our vase is listed in the 1916 catalogs, and the vase is also known from the Japanese book Old Baccarat tableware where it appears with another motif, made with the same techniques. Our chrysanthemum motif was quite common at Baccarat in 1900, during which time Japanese decorations were very fashionable (the chrysanthemum being traditionally known as the imperial emblem of Japan, and more generally today as a national emblem). Our vase is in excellent condition, the crystal is clear, no accidents. Height: 30.1cm Neck diameter: 8.7cm Base diameter: 8.6cm
