"Louis XV Period Sauteuse Chest Of Drawers In Rosewood And Violet Wood. "
Opening with 3 drawers on 2 rows, separated by a crosspiece, this chest of drawers has a curved shape on the front and on the sides, both in plan and in elevation. On an oak, beech and confer frame, this chest of drawers is veneered with rosewood and violet wood, the frame has a beautiful quality construction, well assembled, the drawers are made of beech for the sides and the fronts, the drawer bottoms are in oak, the whole wood is finely cut. The rosewood veneers have two different cuts, with a rising grain sawing for the sides and a cut called "sausage" that is to say at an angle to the grain of the wood allowing to obtain butterfly connections, then very fashionable under the Louis XV period. The rosewood panels made by assembling several sheets of connected veneer, are cut in contoured shapes, underlined by a fine net of light wood and surrounded by violet wood. The top of the same is topped with its period marble, thick and molded with a corbin beak. Ornamentation of original gilded bronzes, composed of fixed handles, lock entries, an apron and posterior sabots, there are no falls, on this chest of drawers there have never been any as proven by the surface condition of the veneer which does not have any old fixing holes. Our opinion: this model is a great classic of the Louis XV chest of drawers, very decorative and easy to place, this model was produced by many Parisian cabinetmakers, our model nevertheless presents careful work at the level of the frame and the veneer. The great interest lies in the veneer work with its wood connected in butterfly wing and the beautiful contrast of color and grain between the rosewood and the violet wood. Last point, the perfect condition, the authenticity and the polish finish make it a most interesting piece of furniture. Marble dimensions: Height: 86.5 cm Width: 112 cm Depth: 56 cm
