Charles BERTIER (Grenboble 1860 - Grenoble 1924) The Thawing of Lake Eychauda, Pelvoux Massif, Oil on canvas signed lower right. Located in a handwritten and difficult to read manner on its frame. Recent restoration of a small snag in the center of the painting. Dimensions 46 x 65 cm. Dimensions with its original frame 64 x 83 cm. Lake Eychauda was drawn and painted several times by the painter Laurent Guétal (1841-1892), a French painter and abbot; his 1886 painting, Lake Eychauda, is one of the most famous of the Dauphiné school of painting. Charles Bertier, his student, painted the Thawing of Lake Eychauda in homage to his master.
