Antique objects have a history and it is a joy to know it when possible. The first known owner of these enamels was Louis-Marie de Nicolaÿ (1729 -1791) bishop of Cahors. It was in the middle of the 19th century that these plaques were brought together in a gilded and carved wooden panel in which they were inserted. Such are in any case the handwritten, detailed and old explanations written on the back.
