"Coach Trunk With The Coat Of Arms Of France, Studded Leather, Late 17th Century"
Dotted with fleurs-de-lys and crowns in brass and bronze, this chest has its lock as well as its original interior covering. On the main facade are the coat of arms of the Kingdom of France. The lock entrance is surrounded by two Dauphins under a crown. Given the many emblems of royalty present on this object, it is possible to consider that it was part of Louis XIV's carriage trunks. A similar trunk was sold at Rouillac auctions during their 32nd garden party sale, they also suggested a royal provenance (link below) https://www.rouillac.com/fr/lotp-537-134750-malle_carrosse_cuir_sur_ame Wrought iron carrying handles.
