"By Amédée Rosier: Sailboat In Front Of Venice "
Charming ink wash study of a sailboat tacking in the lagoon. This drawing, as the stamp (bottom left) indicates, comes from the sale of the studio assets of Amedee Rosier (1831-1914). This artist, a student of Leon Coignet and Carolus Duran, exhibited at the 1857 Salon and was famous for his views of Venice, as well as his orientalist and marine works. Our small study is one of his recurring subjects; we can encounter this boat in front of Venice on several occasions in his oils. Very nicely framed, it is ready to be hung on the wall.
