Very rare pewter PLATE often improperly called "Paten", with relief decoration depicting in the center the Thanksgiving of Noah captioned in German NOE GIENG AUS DER ARCH GETR OST OFFERDT GOTT / 1619, and on the wing four medallions showing the Creation of the woman, Adam and Eve and God, Eve biting the apple and finally Adam and Eve driven out of Paradise.
Model created by Baulus OHAM master in 1619 and taken up by his son Baulus OHAM the young master in 1634
Hallmark of Baulus OHAM junior: Nuremberg coat of arms / BO affixed in the medallion depicting Adam and Eve driven out of Paradise
Diameter: 17.7 cm.
NUREMBERG, Mid-17th century.

These rare plates are most often found in a very poor state of conservation.
The one presented here offers an exceptional finesse of casting and freshness as well as a perfectly legible mark.
Generally speaking, the dating of these plates is very risky when they only have the countermark of the creator of the mold because in this case we cannot affirm that the piece is contemporary with the creation of the model. Only the presence of the founder's mark provides this certainty.
These relief decorations of the "Edel Zinn" group were not chiseled as we often read or hear but came "raw cast". This implied two conditions: a mold of irreproachable quality and a perfect mastery of the casting techniques.
