Large holy water font with semi-domed enamelled copper plaque, oval in shape, Louis XIV period. Polychrome enamel on copper, inspired by the work of Girolamo Marchesi da Cotiglona. In the upper part, the Holy Spirit in the form of a white dove surrounded by gold. On the reverse, inscription "Laudin au FauxBourg de Manigne à Limoges" signed in monogram JL, for Jacques LAUDIN (1627-1695). Border with a black/midnight blue background formed of white scrolls in relief and gilded crosses. Condition: the holy water font is miraculously complete and the religious scene intact, in bright colours. Missing parts around the edge, the conch attacked by the acidity of the water partially without enamel. Many photos cover the subject, please look at them carefully. Some museums keep similar and almost complete works (see Sainte-Croix Museum in Poitiers, Narbonne Museum etc...), most of the plates offered for sale are framed fragments.
