Object description :

"Chest Of Drawers In Native And Exotic Wood Veneers, Louis XIV Style. "
Chest of drawers in veneered wood with inlaid wood top, Louis XIV style work composed of old elements made in the spirit of Dauphiné furniture. The rounded front uprights darkened with copper grooves, the curved front in plan opens with 3 drawers, the separation crosspieces are darkened with copper channels. This chest of drawers is veneered with native wood such as olive ash, walnut, green and natural stained elm burl associated with exotic woods such as rosewood and violet wood forming frames. The frieze is composed of geometric shapes with diamonds of green stained burls, framed by wide violet wood fillets inscribed in rectangles with rosewood wood fillet across and mitered edges. The edge of the top is made with rosewood facings positioned crosswise and molded in corbin beak Ornamentation of gilded bronze such as falling handles on rosettes with rotating foliage, lock entries with palmettes and scrolls, openwork apron with shells and acanthus leaves, openwork sabots decorated with fleurons, scrolls and bases. The frame is made of oak and softwood, the drawers are mounted in softwood with visible dovetail joints. Our opinion: this chest of drawers is a very decorative piece of furniture, the varieties of wood offer beautiful natural decors thanks to the veins and tones with in particular beautiful green-tinted burls, made from old wood, this piece of furniture is a work from the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century made in the style of chests of drawers from Dauphiné. We opted for a filled-waxed finish which perfectly highlights the veneer work. Dimensions: Width: 112 cm Depth: 56 cm Height: 86.5 cm
