"The Card Players "
The Card Players XVIIIth. Playing cards was one of the favorite activities of the peasants of the XVIIIth century, often represented in inns, here in a ruined landscape. The composition groups several characters around a table playing cards, while another group is preparing to surprise the player in a surprising way. We see in the foreground a gentleman elegantly dressed in the fashion of Louis XVI having his shoe shined. Oil on canvas 82 x 65 cm. Frame gilded with gold leaf 92 x 75 cm.
