Vincenzo Aurisicchio (1855 - 1926), “Child,” signed on the amphora
This bronze sculpture by Vincenzo Aurisicchio, titled Child, depicts a young girl standing. Her body is tilted slightly forward, her head bowed and her gaze lowered, conveying a sense of reflection. She wears a simple dress with shoulder pads and a headdress wrapped around her head. In his right hand he holds an amphora, which bears the artist's signature.
The work features a dark, glossy finish, which accentuates the realistic details of the figure, such as the folds of the dress and the delicate anatomy of the child. The bare feet rest on a carved base, which in turn is placed on a red marble pedestal.
The interpretation of the sculpture might suggest a scene from everyday life. The expression and posture evoke a strong sense of emotion, typical of Aurisicchio's works, which often focus on depicting the human figure with deep psychological realism.
