"Auguste Durst. Oil On Canvas "chickens Near The Cottage" 61 X 38.5 Cm"
Oil on canvas "the chickens near the cottage" signed lower right A. Durst. French school. 61 X 38.5 cm. Auguste Durst (1842-1930) was a student of Ernest Hébert (1817-1908) and Léon Bonnat (1833-1922). He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1868 to 1900. He lived part of the year in Normandy on his property in Saint-Vaast-d'Equiqueville. The Bayonne Museum has his "landscape with chickens". Our painting certainly represents the surroundings of the artist's house in Normandy. Compare it to the painting "linen hanging out in front of the cottage" (Briscadieu Bordeaux sale 08/04/2017 No. 101) Unframed. Some cracks from use. A small old restoration at the bottom towards the middle. Good general condition.
