"Ground Sprinkler Early 18th Century "
This rare sprinkler or ground watering can with rose water or perfume, was used since antiquity in the countries around the Mediterranean. Glass examples are known in Spain and Catalonia dating from the 17th and 18th centuries; A very beautiful glass example is preserved at the Adrien-Dubouché museum in Limoges. And a model most likely in brass, illustrated in the dictionary of furniture by Havard. The example presented is in brass with engraved and embossed decorations from a typical repertoire of the end of the 17th or 18th century, in particular acanthus leaves with scrolls and a cartouche. This sprinkler is in good condition, except for a few small worn holes at the junction of the cone and the cylinder.
