JAPAN - Edo period (1603-1868). Samurai tanto. FUSHI and KASHIRA in a suite decorated with shishis and peonies on a nanako background. TSUKA in wood, covered with ray skin, braided with black silk. MENUKIS in a pair in chiseled gilded and silvered copper depicting a daikon. Short TSUBA in horn (slight lack not visible once mounted). KOZUKA decorated with shishi, waterfall and peony on a nanako background (slight wear), the blade signed. SAYA in brown lacquered wood (cracks), KURIGATA and KOJORI in horn. HABAKI in copper engraved with oblique lines. Straight blade, regular hamon, straight and well marked, the tang pierced once, not signed. Dimensions: 36 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm. Blade length: 28.7 cm.
