Originally from Iran, in hand-knotted wool, it measures 122 cm wide by 202 cm long.
Uncommon are these magnificent carpets knotted in Tafresh, a small Iranian town, near Arak.
This type of carpet is special, much happier in the decoration and nuances than those knotted in the neighboring sectors of the Hamadan district.
The weave of these pieces is simple, we can see on the back the two loops forming the knots.
The great characteristic of these carpets, quite rare on the market, is this large medallion that they display in the center of their field.
Our model is adorned with this orange-red medallion, offset on the almost salmon pink field, set by four blue, midnight blue spandrels of the most beautiful effect, surrounded by a decoration of stylized branches and perched birds.
The salmon pink shade called "dughi", was obtained by adding yogurt, called "dugh" to the other natural dyes of these old carpets.
A striking contrast, a mixture of wool with a little silk, shiny and fine, which gives it a thickness of about 4 mm.
The border has a superb golden shine or stylized flowers are placed in a row spaced by flowering branches.
A slight wear covers the whole of this superb carpet, magnificent to look at.
Sublime artifact of the Persian culture of the 19th century, knotted under the Kadjar dynasty.
## The Kadjar dynasty or Kadjars: (Qājār, Qadjar, Qajar, Persian: قاجار) is a Turkmen dynasty which reigned over Iran from 1786 to 1925.
This carpet, in fact, is particularly neat in its decoration, medallion, spandrels, field and borders.
Very light wear on a real beautiful collector's rug.
This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
