Pewter PITCHER with shoulder, plinth foot, straight goblet and acorn thumb.
Control mark: crowned C / 89 / R. (the C means Common pewter and the R Rouen)
Hallmark of Robert Toussaint BAILLARD received master in 1743, incompletely legible: crowned rampant lion / R.(T).(B).
Height: 22.7 cm.
ROUEN, From the year 1789.

Let us recall in passing that these pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime.
Bibliography: "Les étains normands" by Jean-Claude Commenchal, on sale in this gallery.
In Rouen, the regulations of the edict of Louis XIV of 1691 establishing the control mark were, unlike many other centers, fairly well respected and allow objects to be dated precisely.
