A rare and complete set of four original oil paintings on copper depicting various Edwardian tennis scenes. They are all signed by the artist and are set in partially gilded wooden frames under glass. The paintings are in very good condition. The frames too with minimal user wear.
Marco Ceri lives in northern Italy where he paints oil paintings on copper in a very specific genre of his own. His paintings depict English nobility engaged in polo, golf or tennis in the Edwardian era. Much research has resulted in a high degree of accuracy in every aspect of these scenes, including, of course, the attire and sports equipment, but even the postures and demeanor of the participants. A rare find from an artist who does not seek to be known but is a true craftsman.
