"Very Important Christ In Boxwood From The 17th Century"
Very important Franco-Flemish Christ (Cristo vivo) in carved boxwood, of a rare quality of execution, to be compared to the works of the sculptor François DUQUESNOY (1597 - 1643). Its size and the finesse of the details place this work in the category of the most beautiful productions of the genre. Each detail of the body, and the expression of the face of Christ testify to the virtuosity of the artist in rendering the dramatic tension of the crucifixion. The patina is superb. We note an old regluing of the legs. A modern presentation support covered with black velvet is provided with the sculpture. Height Feet - hands: 59 cm
