Bernie Wrightson : “original Board For Swamp Thing”

Bernie Wrightson (1948-2017): "Original plate for Swamp Thing", Indian ink, white gouache background and highlights on thick paper 40 X 27 cm at sight, mounted by a matryoshka in an old burl veneered frame 70 X 53 cm. Various annotations in the margin, signed lower right. This plate was published in French page 26 volume two of Swamp Thing by Éditions du Fromage in 1979. The immense Wrightson, co-founder with Mike Kaluta, Jeff Jones and Barry Windsor Smith of the "Studio", with his wonderfully evocative drawing, regularly put his talent to the service of horror comics or the illustration of Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein.
