""village House" Auguste Rubé"
Auguste Alfred RUBE was born in Paris in 1815. He died there in 1899. In 1829, he joined the studio of Pierre Luc Charles Cicéri, the famous painter and stage designer, as a student. He quickly became his collaborator and associate as a stage designer for the Paris Opera. He married his daughter in 1842. In 1854, he was commissioned to decorate the ceiling of the Théâtre Napoléon III at the Château de Fontainebleau. At that time, he bought a property in Montigny sur Loing. The charming painting that I am presenting is perhaps the family home in Montigny. He executed many important sets, notably for the Opéra Comique, the Grand Opéra and the Théâtre Français. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1869. Auguste Rubé appears in the "Bénézit". The painting is highlighted by a beautiful frame with channels in wood and stucco gilded with gold leaf and corners in acanthus leaves. The dimensions with the frame are 32.5 cm X 35.5 cm. The costs of packaging, shipping and insurance by Colissimo suivi are €30 for France and €40 for the European Union. They are €100 for Asia and the United States.
