"Madonna With Child Italian Painting Late 17th Century"

Madonna and Child late 1600s, oil painting on canvas from northern Italy, in good condition, within walnut frame, from a private collection in Milan. The work depicts the Virgin holding the sleeping Child on her lap, lovingly encircling him with her hands, covered only by a white cloth that enhances the color contrast of the Madonna's dark mantle. The Virgin has a pink robe with white drapery covering her head and shoulders, her head tilted downward is gently resting on the blond hair of the Child. The work over the years has been restored, has old lining, and we can see the removal of repainting in several parts of the canvas. It comes from northern Italy and has a solid walnut molded frame finished in shellac.
