Model in very good condition and with fresh and bright colors.
From the end of the 19th century, see the very beginning of the 20th century, this carpet comes from the region of Chahar Mahal (Shotour) in Iran.
It is a Bakthiar with medallions in the shape of diamonds joined together, hemmed with golden yellow palms.
A very different type from the usual structures in squares or rectangles spreading over the entire field that we regularly find on certain Bakhtiar or large large radiating rosettes as on the Tafresh.
The diamonds are decorated with cypresses, birds; peacocks and doves and mainly roses, the colors are numerous and vibrant.
## The rose, flower of passion, represents "the empire of roses", Iran.
## The presence of cypresses is an invitation to the garden, to paradise.
It is immortality, the evergreen tree and the durability of memory.
The Mainu Spentas cypress is linked to the ancient Zoroastrian religion.
It is believed to be associated with the light of the God Ormuzd and Zoroaster, when he dies he is transported to the highest mountain and there he is transformed.
Other legends say it is the tallest cypress in the world, the cypress of paradise, planted by Zoroaster and Kashmar (Torchiz).
## The blue peacock is found in Persian culture.
- It should be noted that Western iconography sometimes represents the peacock drinking from the Eucharistic Chalice.
- In the Middle East, it is represented alone or on either side of the Tree of Life on prayer rugs: symbols of the incorruptible soul and the psychic duality of man.
Cosmic symbol for Islam: when it makes the wheel, it represents either the universe, or the full moon, or the sun at its zenith.
- A Sufi legend of the golden triangle, probably of Persian origin, says:
"God created the Spirit in the form of a peacock and showed him his own image in the mirror of the divine Essence.
The peacock was seized with respectful fear and let fall drops of sweat from which all other beings were created.
The deployment of the peacock's tail symbolizes the cosmic deployment of the Spirit."
-------------We can therefore easily understand the importance of each symbol on this type of carpet.
The field is composed of twelve diamonds, skillfully colored and knotted with a very great application of symmetry.
This type of Bakthiar carpet is not the most common, it remains a style of carpet called nomadic, using colors specific to their repertoire.
This carpet is particularly neat in its decoration and it presents a certain transition between the nomadic carpet and the city carpet.
These pieces are resistant, knotted with very high quality wool from the mountains. Despite their name and unlike different types of carpets, the Bakthiar are not knotted by the members of the Bakthiar tribe, the Bakhtiaris, but by another population today sedentary.
The region of Chahar Mahal produces the Bakthiar but also, a lesser known genre the Yalame, more recent in manufacture but of very good reputation. Beautiful artifact of the Persian culture of the 19th century, knotted under the Kadjar dynasty.
## The Kadjar dynasty or the Kadjars: (Qājār, Qadjar, Qajar, Persian: قاجار)
is a Turkmen dynasty that reigned over Iran from 1786 to 1925.
This dynasty settled on the shores of the Caspian Sea since the Mongol invasions, reigned over Iran from 1789 until its deposition by parliament in 1925. This carpet, in fact, is particularly neat in its diagonal checkerboard decoration covering its field and the beauty of the border.
Very slight wear on a truly beautiful collector's carpet.
The double selvedges are impeccable, it is a finely tightened carpet, more than a hundred years old and of very good quality.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
