Bust on circular pedestal and square base representing François Joseph Barrois known as Barrois-Virnot (1759 / 1848). Mayor of Lille in 1830, member then president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lille, General Councilor of the North thereafter, the presidency of the Departmental Assembly fell to him from 1831 to 1832. He was deputy of the North from 1830 to 1834, sitting in the conservative majority supporting the ministries of the July Monarchy. He was one of the main founding shareholders of the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord. The original bust (in terracotta) is exhibited at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille (N° INV. 2008.0.6.14). Note that the Karl Lagerfeld collection presented two busts in the same style (Christie's Monaco sale of April 29, 2000). Height : 40 cm / Width : 24 cm / Depth : 17 cm / Base : 10 x 10 cm
