The term "Flühli-Glas" covers all the glassworks of the Entlebuch and Upper Emmental regions of Switzerland.
The Kugelflasche, whose shape is inspired by Venetian pilgrimage flasks, was part of the beautiful table glassware in the 18th and early 19th centuries. According to the examples observed, production seems to have extended from 1766 to 1829; In any case, the Kugelflasche is no longer listed in the 1857 catalogue of the Hergiswil glassworks (NW). Our example, with its 32 cm height, is one of the largest models referenced.
