"Jules Dalou 19th Century Faux Bronze Sharpener Susse Brothers Foundry Lost Wax"
Magnificent bronze signed Jules Dalou (1838-1902) presenting a scythe sharpener. Cast using the lost wax method, this bronze also bears the stamp of the Susse Frères foundry, the oldest French foundry still in operation. Jules Daloux is a famous bronze-worker from the second half of the 19th century, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and having benefited from numerous orders from the State, notably The Triumph of the Republic located on Place de la Nation in Paris. The bronze is in excellent condition and shows a very fine mastery of modeling by this artist, a friend of Rodin.
