St. Andrew is considered the patron saint of butchers, rope makers, fishermen and fishmongers, as well as of Scotland, Greece and Russia. Another very curious legend tells how girls looking for a husband must eat half an apple, put the other half under their pillow and pray to St. Andrew, in a dream he will tell them a secret that will allow them to get married.
