Bronze sculpture from the Art Deco period circa 1925 signed A. CARON (Alexandre Auguste CARON 1857-1932) Numbered 32 Rare mascot emblem of the Croisière Noire Citroën (1924-25) representing Princess Neginga, the wife of a Mangbetu chief, partially nude in bust and her ceremonial hairstyle. Good condition, dimensions: 12.5 cm high X 5.5 cm wide X 5 cm deep. Alexandre Auguste Caron (1857-1932) was a French sculptor. Born in Paris in 1857, he was a student of sculptors such as Barrau, Roufosse and Scaillet and exhibited from 1893 at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received an honorable mention in 1898.
