It's as big as a magnifying glass on a lab stand It's as shiny as the brass used in labs in the 19th century And there was even the same object in the prism cabinet in the science lab of my last years of school Except that it's not a magnifying glass, the lens that adorns the center of the sight is rather refractory, it makes objects smaller instead of enlarging them (I checked the spelling in the dictionary: qu'il rametisse exists but I must not write it often). So this object is remarkable, it was part of a panoply of torture instruments for students in physics class in the 19th century
