"Jean-baptiste Desvignes, Opaline Goblet “estime”"
Cylindrical goblet in soapy opal crystal, polychrome and gold painted decoration with the inscription Estime, framed by foliage and forget-me-nots, made by the workshop of Jean-Baptiste Desvignes, between 1817-1826. In very good condition, very minor wear in the paint, see photos. Decorated opaline goblets are given for New Year's gifts, baptisms, engagements or weddings, in memory of a political event or to celebrate a popular festival. The most commonly used ones include a formula such as souvenir, esteem, love, friendship, generally intended to be given as gifts.
