"Naive School Painting The Balloon Merchant Painting Signed Josette Bardoux"
Original oil on canvas, 41 cm x 33 cm, sold with its gilded frame 50 cm x 40 cm, signed lower right Josette Bardoux, representing a balloon seller surrounded by children in a park. Painting in very good condition. Sold with an invoice-certificate. Born in Saint-Cloud on January 6, 1948. Aurodidact, she began with a true naïve painting, not manufactured. In 1973, she exhibited in Boston. In 1976 in Belgium, in Ostend and Courtrai. In 1977, at the Galerie Roussard. Originally from Auvergne, her lithographs, paintings, pastels and drawings are naïve celebrations of rural life. Josette paints a mythical nature, a countryside where she loves to live and where she recently decided to retire. She composed genre scenes, country weddings, a shepherd in his solitude, fishermen, the grape harvest in the Bordeaux region. The rhythm of the seasons and the strength of rural tradition meet with references to mythology and the Bible. She exhibited in Montmartre, and, for a time, worked with Robert Delval, which corresponds to a short period during which her style was influenced by Hundertwasser.
