"Jobbana Polychrome Earthenware Butter Pot Morocco Maghreb Fez Morocco 19th Century"
Jobbana* or butter pot in polychrome earthenware in cobalt blue, green and yellow surrounded by manganese, with rich stylized floral and plant decoration, decorated with pomegranate seeds, from Fez Morocco, from the late 19th century. This jobbana is in good general condition, it is in its original condition. Please note: some accidents, cracks and breakages, chips on the lid, wear and tear, look carefully at the photos (see red arrows) * Jobbanas are directly derived from Chinese productions imported to Morocco from the end of the 18th century. Jobbanas have inherited the squat shapes of Canton ginger pots, but have also gained in originality: the shapes have flared, and the piece, initially in one piece with a small lid at its top, has been transformed into a "butter pot" with two bodies. The master ceramicists of Fez have also been able to imprint the mark of their creative genius on them: the classical Chinese motifs have given way to the abundant floral repertoire of Fez, marked by Hispano-Moorish reminiscences.
