Beautiful set of an ox pulling a cart in slip-glazed terracotta. Very good overall condition. The object is accompanied by a thermoluminescence test certifying the authenticity of the dating. Similar model in the book "La céramique chinoise" by Michel Beurdeley, p.60. The terracotta cart and ox from the Han dynasty are fascinating examples of the art and craftsmanship of this period, which extends from 206 BC to 220 AD. These objects were often used in tombs to accompany the deceased to the afterlife, reflecting the spiritual beliefs and funerary practices of the time. Han dynasty craftsmen excelled in creating terracotta sculptures and these representations of carts and oxen were not only decorative but also symbolic.
